The Green Stone Bead has been an intriguing discovery on behalf of IROKO Theatre Company, who has been working on a series of workshops and conducting research at one of the worlds richestultural History spots in town - The British Museum.
Owing to its large phenomenol collection of over 250,000 items from over 4 Human Ages, the question is what do we make of it all?

Alex Oma-Pius, the Award winning Director of IROKO Theatre Arts Company has taken on just that challenge? With a devised Live Performance piece involving African Drumming, Dance, Theatre, African Drumming, Music Composition, Projected Graphics and
Costume - a message begins to form in the bosom of our Golden Era experience. "Give back the Green Stone Bead! The characters go on a whirlwind of adventures and passages, and sacred gateway, undersea and under heavy attack, for what? "To retrieve the Green Stone Bead". According to 'Our Shared Heritage", it holds within it the 'Destiny of Humanity", which can not be looked at or 'lost' lightly!

The Thunder Gods are conspiring to protect the bead because "humanity can not protect The Green Stone Bead".
Humanity needs to "Mend its ways first". Then the 'Cheeky Monkey' dips into disguise and manages to 'grab it' from inside the Palace of Olokun. This triggers a serious thunder stormed anger-bath of every God in town from Sango to

Tllaloc, Thor and Zeus. What is the meaning of all of this? The play embodied a great deal of deities, Gods and Goddesses,
and this explains the 7th dimension that is too often 'buried' by mediocrity and modernism.

The Green Stone Bead comes at the right place at the right time. Young Children and the next generation should have knowledge that goes beyond the 6th dimension? Food, clothing, Fast Cars, Computers, Sports and Fashion? Edutainment Plays such like this, help them not only to connect with 'reality', but also to appreciate the history of the worlds Ancient feats. The Ancient world has produced the link to the Heavens, and this could be lost if no focus and attention is given to the 'past? To know the stories that we missed, the people that inhabited the earth, the Queens and Kings that ruled before Colonialism and the Gods that blessed humanity beyond measure?
What was the last 10,000 years for? And most interestingly enough, what on earth was the last 400 years of misery and turmoil for?

The Green Stone Bead looks at so many different aspects of our lives and 'consumption'. It makes us think again, which is what the Golden Era is all about. There is only seven years to the second Golden Age, and people need the right information, surrounded by the right people and guidance to ensure that they are ready for that leap of faith. This can not be done in the Cinemas alone?

What IROKO reveals, is that African Culture has travelled through the Ages, however in different disguises, masks and style.
From Asia to China, to Europe and the Arab world have taken on some facet of African Culture, made it their own and 'renamed it' according to their Pantheons. So we are in a mysterious way beautifully linked. We now know that most cultures have the 'Trickster' character, (played by Anansi the spider), River Deities, Thunder Gods, Gods, Godesses, Hats, Gods of Iron and sacred animals.

The production was performed at Redbridge Library, Barking Library, Stratford Library, The British Museum and Goldsmiths University. Each and every performance was full, with a lively dance at the end of the performance where the audience could participate.
This was in celebration of the Green Stone Bead, giving a true sensation that the 'Bead is here! Children danced, adults danced as
Food and light refreshments were served. A classic case of Cultural Enagement at its very best.

On the very last performance, a delicious selection of African food from jollof rice to chicken stew was served, which seem to bring the African Family nicely back together in the Goldsmiths Foyer Area to appreciate good edutainment. Hopefully, this play will also endure through the summer and tour more schools. If you missed any of them, then follow the IROKO Performance and feedback on the
